Introduction
The Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Gateshead Branch draws its membership from within the Metropolitan areas of Gateshead and Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Adjacent branches are established at Hexham, South Shields and Whitley Bay.
The Branch holds ten semi-formal meetings during the year, commencing at 1900 hrs, normally on the first Monday of every month (except January (to avoid the usual inclement weather)) whilst the December meeting is an informal, social event), all usually held at the Benwell Hill Cricket Club, West Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE15 7EU - the entrance is immediately opposite that to the West Road Crematorium. Stagecoach bus services 39 and 40 from the City centre stop just outside the entrance. If needed, further details of how to find the venue can be obtained from any of the ‘Points of Contact’ listed below.
The Annual General Meeting of the Branch is usually held on the third Monday in February and, at this meeting, the incumbents of the posts of Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer for the following year are elected by the membership present at that meeting.
